What is Positive
Futures?
Positive Futures was launched in May 2002, as a partnership
between the Home Office, Sport England, The Football Foundation
and Youth Justice Board. Various other governing bodies are
also supporting the programme.
Why Leisure?
Leisure is being used because of its power to engage a wide
range of young people, and its ability to offer positive alternatives
to those at risk of social exclusion. It also promotes a healthy,
drug-free lifestyle, and provides leadership and training
opportunities.
What Type of Programmes Are available?
Programmes can include:
¨ Outreach and detached work
¨ Coaching Skills
¨ Mentoring Opportunities
¨ Education Programmes
¨ Curricular and Extra Curricular activities
¨ Leadership Skills
How is Positive Futures funded ?
Funding is provided from Home Office core funding.
The Recovered Assets Fund, Sport England and other Local Partnerships
of Positive futures also contribute to the funding of the
programme.
