Drugs & Alcohol
A Drugs Culture
People don't take drugs just because they are depressed or
having problems, they most often start off doing it - just
for a laugh!!
- They enjoy the feeling of being 'off it'
- All their friends take them or have tried them
- They are curious about the effects
- People are always offering them to you
- You're board with the same old routines at evenings and
weekends
If you're lucky you wont get hooked and you will suffer no
long-term damage to your health.
If you are unlucky the effects can be devastating.
Taking illegal drugs is not part of normal life, and most
people stop taking them because of long term physical and
mental health problems that prolonged use can cause.

A Drinking Culture
No matter how far back you go in history drinking is associated
with 'spare time'. Yes, drinking in moderation can be sociable
and fun. Across Britain it is the norm to go out and get drunk,
it's a laugh
. Isn't it?
Around half of all adults admitted to hospital with head injuries
are drunk. This is fast becoming a growing trend with young
people 7% of accidental drowning and 40% of household fires
are drink related.
Around half of all pedestrians aged 16 - 60 killed in road
accidents are over the legal drink drive limit.
Drink slows reaction, co-ordination, and judgement times,
excessive drinking messes up your life. It's highly addictive,
it can break up families, affect your job/education.
Most people who drink don't have a problem and done in moderation
it can be an effective way of winding down at the end of the
day (providing you're over 18). but excessive drinking ruins
lives...
And not just your own.
