· Within South Sefton around 46& of adults smoke - way higher than the national average.
· Cigarette smoking is more common amongst unemployed and manual workers then it is amongst non-manual workers.

Despite over 30 years of awareness raising (especially around Cancer and Heart Disease) smoking level in South Sefton are amongst the highest in the country. A staggering 46% of all adults in the South Sefton area smoke.

It's never to late to quit though. Within 5 years of quitting your risk of suffering from heart disease and cancer is more than halved. In the last 12 months alone approximately 1,000 Sefton smokers have quit with the support of Fag Ends.

SUPPORT is a free NHS service aimed at offering friendly advice and help to smokers who really want to quit. SUPPORT can help you to make a plan to stop, Cope with cravings and Stay stopped.

Help is given through a short series of individual or group meetings, all we ask is that you really want to quit. The more motivated you are the better your chance of success! The service, can in most cases, provide Nicotine Replacement Therapy through a voucher scheme or will communicate with your GP if necessary regarding treatment.
